Gen 13:8-13 (Lot’s fatal mistakes)

1. He looked the wrong direction (v10)

    a. As the garden of the Lord

    b. Like the land of Egypt

2. He chose the easy way (v11)

    a. The valley and not the hills

    b. The cities and not the wilderness

3. He chose the place of worldly pleasure (v11)

4. He left the place of spiritual blessing (Abraham)

5. He pitched his tent toward Sodom (v12)

“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.”

Gen. 19:1-26

6. He took up residence in Sodom (v1)

7. He became a judge between sinners (v1)

8. He built a house in Sodom (v2)

9. He had no testimony for God in Sodom (v4)

10. He was willing to sacrifice his daughters to sin (v8)

11. He refused to see what God saw (v13)

12. He had no testimony for God with his family (v14)

13. He lingered in sin a little longer (v16)

14. He did not trust God in judgment nor in provision (v17-19)

15. His wife did believe God because of him (v26)

16. His daughters did not fear God because of him (36-38)

17. He is an example of carnal Christianity to this day!

6. He stayed on the plain (v1)

8. He lived in a tent (v1)

9. He had a testimony with God (v3)

10. He was willing to sacrifice his son to God (22:2)

11. He believed God (v17-18)

12. He would have a testimony for God with his family (v19)

13. He drew near to God (v23)

14. He trusted God (v25) 

15. His wife had trouble believing God (v12)

16. His children trusted God because of him (22:7) 

17. He is an example of faith to this day!
