A Love Letter Written Especially To
Kristen And To YOU!

 Dear Kristen:

You and I have spoken before of  the wonderful, yet seemingly mysterious, process by which we can be sure of going to Heaven when we die.  We have also spoken of that “here and now” peace we can experience despite our present circumstances.  It is my desire for you that “The eyes of your under- standing being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of Christ’s calling....”  (Ephes. 1:18)

Kristen, here is what God says about your present spiritual condition:

“As it is written, There is none righteous (according to God’s standard of what is right), no, NOT ONE:  There is NONE that under-standeth, there is NONE that seeketh after God.  They are ALL gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is NONE that DOETH GOOD, no, NOT ONE.  For all have sinned (broken God’s law), and come short of the glory of God”  (Romans 3:10-12,23) (Not a pretty picture of mankind!)

“He that believeth (puts their faith & trust in) on Him (Christ) is not condemned: but he that believeth NOT is condemned ALREADY, because he hath NOT BELIEVED in the Name of the only begotten Son of God.”  (John 3:18) (Not a pretty picture of mankind’s promised end—condemned!)

Kristen, here is what God says about our “good works”  like church membership, baptism, helping our neighbors, keeping the Ten Commandments, doing “good” for others, etc., etc..

“Therefore by the deeds of the law  (doing good works or keeping the Ten Command- ments) there shall no flesh (person) be justified (acquitted of their sins) in His (God’s) sight: for by the law (Ten Command- ments) is the knowledge of Sin.”    (Romans 3:20)

“Not by works of righteousness (doing good works, keeping the Ten Command- ments) which we have done, but accord-ing to His mercy He saved us...”  (Titus 3:5)

“For Christ is the end of the law (doing good works, etc.) for righteousness to every one that believeth (puts his/her trust in Christ, not self; not religion; not church).”  (Romans 10:4)

“And be found in Him (Christ), not having MINE OWN righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith (trusting in) of Christ, the righteousness which is of God BY FAITH (trust in Christ, not self; not religion; not church).”  (Philip. 3:9)

Kristen, here is what Christ did for us to save us from the just penalty of our sins.

“For the wages (payment) of [your] sin is death (eternal separation from God & good); but the gift (you cannot earn a gift, but you can accept a gift) of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ (not anything you can do) our Lord.”  (Romans 6:23)

“But God commendeth (proved) His love toward us, in that, while we were YET SINNERS, Christ died for us.”  (Romans 5:8)

“For Christ also hath once suffered FOR [your] SINS, the just for the unjust, that He (Christ) might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”  (1 Peter 3:18)

Kristen, here is the summation of our condition before a holy God.

We have ALL sinned.

Sin separates us from God, therefore we cannot go to Heaven, and, in fact, MUST be punished for the breaking of God’s law.  God’s righteousness and justice demand punishment for sin.  Therefore, we are without hope in ourselves.  But God proved His love, in that while we were sinners, Christ died in our place, satisfying the demands of God’s perfect justice.

Kristen, just how does Christ’s death get applied to your account?

“For by GRACE (unmerited favor from God) are ye SAVED (delivered from the penalty of your sin—Hell) through faith (trust in Christ); and that NOT of yourselves (your “good” works, etc.): it (salvation) is the gift of God”  (Ephes. 2:8)

“That whosoever believeth in Him (Christ) should NOT perish, but HAVE eternal life.”  (John 3:15)

Kristen, how can you receive this free gift of eternal life through Christ?

“Jesus answered and said unto him (Nicodemus, the most RELIGIOUS, but lost, man that ever lived), ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again (a time and a place, a spiritual birth), he cannot see the kingdom of God’.”  (John 3:3)

“That if thou shalt confess (agree with God about your sins and your need of a Saviour) with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart (inner man, not just the mind) that God hath raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth (trusts Christ) unto righteousness (God’s standard); and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For WHOSOEVER (does that include you?)  shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  (Romans 10:9,13)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth (not just believe that He is, but put your faith and trust) in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  (John 3:16)

Kristen, to receive Christ is to have all your sins forgiven (past, present, future).  To receive Christ is to know that you will go to Heaven when you die or when Christ comes again.

“He that hath the Son hath [eternal] life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”  (1 John 5:12-13)

Kristen, to receive Christ is to believe the above, to repent (change your mind about God and the seriousness of your sin) and pray:

“Heavenly Father, I know  and confess that I am a sinner, and that I deserve to go to Hell. I repent and believe that Jesus Christ died and shed His blood as full payment for my sins.  Right now I am going to trust Him and Him alone to save me and take me to Heaven when I die.  Thank you for saving me and forgiving all my sins.  In Jesus name.  Amen.”

Kristen, did you do what God said to do? Have you received Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord?  Are you sins forgiven, and do you now have a home in heaven? I hope so.  Write to me at the address below and let me know.

 Your Friend,

G. Albert Darst
